TPU Flex Filament - 93A

Eolas Prints TPU Flex 93A is a flexible filament with Shore 93A hardness — the sweet spot between firm elasticity and soft flexibility. Manufactured in Cantabria, Spain, from thermoplastic polyurethane, it delivers professional-grade durability for a wide range of functional applications. Made from food-contact-safe certified raw material.

Key Properties

Shore hardness 93A — medium-soft flexibility
Density 1.21 g/cm³
Diameter tolerance ±0.08 mm
Food-contact-safe raw material Yes — virgin pellets and masterbatches certified to EU food-contact standards (see note below)
Skin contact safe (raw material) Yes
Toy safe (raw material) Yes
Recyclable Yes
Chemical resistance Excellent (oils, cleaning agents)
Wear resistance Superior in high-friction applications
Extruder compatibility Direct drive recommended; short Bowden possible

A Note on Food Contact

Our food-contact certification applies to the raw filament material — the virgin pellets and masterbatches we manufacture from — not to finished printed parts. 3D-printed surfaces contain microscopic gaps between layers that can harbour bacteria, and most printers use brass nozzles that may introduce trace metals into the print. For this reason, no 3D-printed object can be guaranteed food-safe by the filament alone. If you intend a part for food contact, print it with a stainless-steel nozzle and apply a food-safe sealant — and assess suitability for your specific use. This remains the responsibility of the maker.

Recommended Print Settings

Nozzle temperature 220–235°C
Bed temperature 50–60°C
Print speed 15–30 mm/s
Retraction 0.5–1 mm (minimal)
Cooling fan 50–80%
Extruder Direct drive recommended

TPU is sensitive to speed and retraction — these guides help you get it right: our PETG, TPU & ASA settings guide, how to fix stringing and oozing, and first-layer & bed-adhesion troubleshooting. For flexible prints, pair it with Magigoo Pro Flex. For everything in one place, see our complete troubleshooting & calibration guide.

Shore Hardness in Context

93A sits between our softest grade (D53 — like a rubber eraser) and our firmest (D60 — like a hard rubber sole). At 93A, the filament feels like a car tyre: flexible and resilient, but with enough firmness to hold structure. It is the most versatile TPU grade for general-purpose flexible printing.

Recommended Applications

  • Kitchen accessories and food-preparation aids (with appropriate food-safe sealing — see note above)
  • Protective phone cases and wearable components
  • Automotive gaskets, seals, and vibration dampeners
  • Orthopaedic supports and prosthetic elements
  • Industrial gaskets, protective covers, and flexible connectors
  • Functional flexible prototypes and product validation models

Manufactured in Spain

Manufactured at Eolas Prints' facility in Cantabria, Spain, under ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards. Available in 1.75mm and 2.85mm in 40 colours.
