PLA Filament 1.75 mm

Eolas Prints PLA 1.75mm is our flagship filament — manufactured in Cantabria, Spain, from NatureWorks Ingeo PLA resin. Available in over 20 colours including standard, silk, matte, neon, and transition variants, it delivers consistent, reliable results across the full range of FDM printers. Made from food-contact-safe, toy-safe, and skin-safe certified raw material.

Key Properties

Heat deflection temperature ~55–60°C
Tensile strength 50–60 MPa
Density 1.24 g/cm³
Shrinkage Minimal
Food-contact-safe raw material Yes — virgin pellets and masterbatches certified to EU food-contact standards (see note below)
Skin contact safe (raw material) Yes
Toy safe (raw material) Yes
Eco-friendly Derived from renewable resources (corn starch / sugarcane)
Diameter tolerance ±0.05 mm

A Note on Food Contact

Our food-contact certification applies to the raw filament material — the virgin pellets and masterbatches we manufacture from — not to finished printed parts. 3D-printed surfaces contain microscopic gaps between layers that can harbour bacteria, and most printers use brass nozzles that may introduce trace metals into the print. For this reason, no 3D-printed object can be guaranteed food-safe by the filament alone. If you intend a part for food contact, print it with a stainless-steel nozzle and apply a food-safe sealant — and assess suitability for your specific use. This remains the responsibility of the maker.

Recommended Print Settings

Nozzle temperature 195–220°C
Bed temperature 0–60°C
Print speed (standard) 40–100 mm/s
Print speed (High Speed PLA) Up to 300 mm/s
Cooling fan 80–100% after first layer
Enclosure Not required

PLA Variants

  • Standard PLA — 20+ colours, ideal for prototypes, models, and everyday parts
  • High Speed PLA — up to 300mm/s, near-double strength of standard PLA, ABS-level impact resistance
  • PLA Matte — non-reflective finish that minimises visible layer lines
  • PLA Silk — high-gloss metallic finish in gold, silver, bronze, and copper
  • PLA Neon — intense fluorescent colours: green, yellow, orange, and pink
  • PLA Transition — unique gradient effect from virgin colour-transition material
  • PLA Ingeo 850 — reaches 85°C after annealing, heat-resistant alternative to ABS
  • PLA Antibacterial — ISO certified 99.9% more hygienic than standard PLA

Recommended Applications

  • Prototypes, models, and decorative objects
  • Containers and kitchen accessories (with appropriate food-safe sealing — see note above)
  • Children's toys and educational models
  • Wearable components and skin-contact parts
  • Architectural and product design models
  • High-volume print farm production
