Flashforge AD5X Multi-Colour
The Flashforge Adventurer AD5X is an open-frame, dual-filament CoreXY 3D printer that brings multi-colour and multi-material printing to the Adventurer series. With its four-filament Intelligent Filament System (IFS), automatic filament switching, and a fast CoreXY motion system, the AD5X enables multi-colour prints, soluble support removal, and two-material functional parts in a compact desktop machine at an accessible price point. An optional enclosure kit is available for temperature-sensitive materials.

Multi-Filament — What It Enables
Multi-colour printing — the most common application: up to four colours in a single print without manual filament changes. The AD5X switches between spools automatically during the print via the IFS. Purge requirements between colour changes mean some waste per transition, but the workflow is fully automated.
Soluble support removal — using a water-soluble support material (PVA) alongside the main filament. Supports dissolve in water, leaving clean underhangs and overhangs with no manual support removal and no surface marks. This is the most practical benefit for engineering and prototype users.
Multi-material functional parts — for example, a rigid structure with a TPU overmoulded grip section. The 300°C nozzle ceiling enables material pairings that require elevated temperatures. For high-shrinkage materials such as ABS or ASA, the optional enclosure kit is recommended to maintain a stable chamber temperature.
Material Compatibility
- Standard: PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA
- Engineering: PA-12 Nylon, PC Blend
- Flexible: TPU 95A
- Soluble supports: PVA (compatible with PLA pairing)
- Composite: PLA-CF, PETG-CF (hardened nozzle recommended)
Who It's For
- Designers producing multi-colour prototypes and display models without post-painting
- Engineers who want soluble support capability in a compact machine
- Makers experimenting with multi-material functional parts at an accessible price point
- Studios that need automated multi-colour output at high speed
