Bambu Lab X2D
The Bambu Lab X2D is a dual-nozzle enclosed FDM 3D printer designed for users who regularly print with support materials, multi-material combinations, or engineering filaments. Where most desktop printers rely on a single nozzle for both the part and its supports — requiring the same material for both, which limits clean removal — the X2D dedicates one nozzle to the part and a second to the support structure. This changes the quality ceiling on complex geometry: supports in PVA, BVOH, or HIPS dissolve or peel cleanly away from surfaces that would otherwise require manual work and leave marks.

Dual Nozzle — How It Changes Support Printing
A single-nozzle multi-material setup switches filaments within the same nozzle — meaning both the part material and the support material pass through the same hotend and require purging between transitions. The X2D's dual-nozzle architecture keeps the two materials completely separate: the main nozzle never touches the support filament and vice versa. This eliminates cross-contamination between part and support, reduces purge waste per transition, and allows the two materials to be processed at different temperatures simultaneously — which is essential for pairing materials with very different thermal requirements, such as PETG with BVOH supports or ABS with HIPS.
65°C Active Chamber Heating
The actively heated chamber reaches and maintains 65°C throughout the print. For engineering materials — ABS, ASA, PA-CF, and PC in particular — this addresses the root cause of warping and delamination: the temperature gradient between a hot first layer and a cooling ambient environment. At 65°C chamber temperature, even large flat ABS and ASA prints maintain dimensional stability from first layer to last — these are notoriously prone to warping on less thermally stable machines.
300°C Nozzle — Material Range
The 300°C nozzle ceiling covers the complete range of common engineering thermoplastics from both nozzles: PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, PA-12 Nylon, PA-CF, PC Blend, and TPU. Soluble support materials including PVA and BVOH also operate within this range. For the most demanding materials (PEEK, PEI), 300°C is at the lower boundary — but for the vast majority of functional engineering part production, it is sufficient.
3-Stage Filtration
The X2D's filtration system captures airborne particles and VOCs at three stages: a G3 pre-filter removes larger particles first, the H12 HEPA layer captures fine particulate matter down to 0.3 microns at 99.5% efficiency, and the activated carbon stage adsorbs VOCs and odours from ABS, ASA, and Nylon printing. This system makes the X2D appropriate for office environments, shared workspaces, and facilities with indoor air quality requirements.
AMS Combo — Automatic Material System
The X2D AMS Combo variant includes the AMS 2 Pro multi-material unit. The AMS 2 Pro holds up to 4 filament spools and feeds them to the printer automatically, enabling multi-colour and multi-material jobs from a single filament loading operation. Combined with the X2D's dual nozzle, the AMS Combo is the most complete multi-material configuration: the AMS handles filament switching on the main nozzle while the auxiliary nozzle maintains the support material — allowing complex multi-colour prints with dedicated, cleanly removable supports.
