TPU Transition Filament
Eolas Prints TPU Transition filament brings together the flexibility and durability of thermoplastic polyurethane with a natural gradient colour effect. Made from the virgin colour-blend produced during manufacturing colour changes, each spool creates prints with a distinctive gradient look — putting every metre of material to productive use.
Key Properties
| Shore hardness | 93A — flexible, durable, and resilient |
| Colour effect | Natural gradient — unique on every print |
| Density | 1.21 g/cm³ |
| Diameter tolerance | ±0.08 mm |
| Food-contact-safe raw material | Yes — virgin pellets and masterbatches certified to EU food-contact standards (see note below) |
| Skin contact safe (raw material) | Yes |
| Toy safe (raw material) | Yes |
A Note on Food Contact
Our food-contact certification applies to the raw filament material — the virgin pellets and masterbatches we manufacture from — not to finished printed parts. 3D-printed surfaces contain microscopic gaps between layers that can harbour bacteria, and most printers use brass nozzles that may introduce trace metals into the print. For this reason, no 3D-printed object can be guaranteed food-safe by the filament alone. If you intend a part for food contact, print it with a stainless-steel nozzle and apply a food-safe sealant — and assess suitability for your specific use. This remains the responsibility of the maker.
Recommended Print Settings
| Nozzle temperature | 195–235°C |
| Bed temperature | 0–50°C |
| Print speed | 20–50 mm/s |
| Retraction | Minimal (0.5–1 mm) |
| Extruder | Direct drive recommended |
Why Transition Filament?
Transition filament is the virgin material produced during the colour-change phase of manufacturing. As one colour gives way to the next, the two blend naturally. Instead of purging this material, we spool it as transition filament — making productive use of every metre and delivering a visually unique product with a gradient that no two spools share.
Recommended Applications
- Flexible decorative objects and artistic prints
- Customised phone cases and wearable accessories
- Shock-absorbing components and vibration dampeners
- Soft-touch grips and ergonomic handles
- Unique gift items and personalised products
